Palisades Logistics’ Alabama 3rd party warehouse partner has announced plans for a $5.2 million expansion of its temperature-controlled storage facility, a project that will position this Alabama location as a leader in the logistics sector.
Plans call for the addition of about 120,000 square feet of temperature-controlled storage space, of which 40,000 square feet would be dedicated to products requiring storage temperatures at around 35 degrees, and 80,000 square feet for products requiring storage temperatures of 63 degrees. This project as planned will allow the facility to focus on such industries as food (including food products with medicinal benefits), medical, and health & beauty.
This Alabama warehouse facility currently offers more than 1,000,000 square feet of space dedicated to refrigerated, frozen and dry storage. Easily accessible from ports in Alabama (Mobile), Louisiana (New Orleans), Georgia (Savannah), and Florida (Jacksonville and Panama City), the facility also offers convenient access to one of the country’s major east-west trucking routes, providing efficient and cost-effective transport from storage to final destination.
The facility’s management expects that with this planned expansion the facility will be able to accommodate an additional 10,000 pallets and will keep in line with The British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for Food Safety requirements. The BRC is a food-grade quality rating system recognized by more than 100 countries worldwide.
The expansion of the Alabama-based facility is expected to add around 50 quality jobs locally and strengthen the logistics capabilities of the area. Upon completion in 2026, Palisades’ Alabama 3rd party warehouse partner expects to have the capability to move up to 500,000 parcel shipments per month. This increased productivity will greatly improve the efficiency of supply chains depending on temperature-controlled storage and fulfillment services in the Alabama region.
